River Bones Press is pleased to announce its publication of Lilacs And Tributes, the latest book of poetry by Ottawa poet Mark Monica Gorman.

This thirty-seven page chapbook, a book of spiritual poetry, is in fact Gorman's second volume of "prayers and poems" in four years. His first book, Loneliness And Pride, was published in the spring of 2005 by HMS Press.

As with that first book, Gorman uses his work here in "Lilacs" to delve into the two themes that were omnipresent in his first book, his relationship with God and spirituality, and his life as a person who has long been gender variant and transgendered.

In fact, it's known that Gorman always insists on viewing his gender status within a spiritual context.

The foreword to Lilacs And Tributes is written by a woman who is a diaconal minister in the United Church of Canada, Alyson Huntly.
